Research Assistant (Postdoc)

The position is offered from 01.09.2022 for a period of 4 years, if no former times of qualification must be considered. The position is full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E13).

Tasks:

The tasks include scientific services in research and teaching. In research, a focus on climatology is expected. The scope of duties further includes teaching in climatology and methods (e.g. statistics) in the BSc and L3 degree programme, most of which must be held in German. The supervision of theses as well as the new experimental aerosol-cloud infrastructure and also the acquisition and coordination of third-party funded projects are also part of your tasks.

This is a qualification position to be filled for a limited period of time with the aim of being appointed to a professorship (habilitation or habilitation equivalence). Within the scope of the assigned tasks, the opportunity for independent scientific work is offered, which serves one's own scientific qualification. The fixed term is in accordance with § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 2 WissZeitVG.

Profile:

The prerequisites are a completed scientific university degree (diploma, master's degree or comparable) in Geography (focus climatology) or a related field, and an above-average doctorate. You have already worked in the field of aerosol-cloud interaction or would like to do so in the future. You have methodological knowledge in the experimental field and/or the fields of remote sensing and modelling. Furthermore, interdisciplinary teamwork skills, knowledge of at least one high-level programming language (preferably Python), very good English skills and the ability to write scientific publications are expected. The willingness to pursue one's own scientific qualification is expected.
