The position is offered for a period of 3 years, if no former times of qualification must be considered. The starting date is October 1, 2022. The position is part-time (50 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state of Hessen, Germany (TV-H E13, 50 %).
The position is funded by the DFG (the German Research Foundation) through the Collaborative Research Center 1333 “Molecular Heterogeneous Catalysis in Confined Geometries“. The CRC 1333 is an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Stuttgart with 16 individual research projects involving also external partners at the Max-Planck Institute for Solid State Research and at the Universities of Paderborn, Marburg and Bochum.
More than 50 researchers from 19 groups collaborate to acquire the fundamental understanding of how confinement can synergistically support catalytic reactions with molecular catalysts within small mesopores.This involves the challenging tasks of analyzing and quantifying how specific pore properties influence e.g. reactivity and diffusivity and which are the underlying mechanisms. Finally, we aim to develop hybrid catalyst systems that enable more efficient chemical-catalytic production processes or even open completely new reaction pathways. For this, we require the concerted effort of researchers from catalysis, materials sciences, analytical sciences and theory.
The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of a doctoral degree. As part of the assigned duties, there will be ample opportunity to conduct the independent scientific research necessary for the completion of a doctorate. The limitation complies to § 2, 1 WissZeitVG.
The position requires a University Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, preferably with a major in Analytical Chemistry, or in Materials Science. Specifically, we would like to encourage candidates with the following qualifications to apply:
Disposition to own scientific qualification is expected. All doctoral researchers of CRC 1333 are part of a structured graduate program integrated within the graduate academy of University of Stuttgart GRADUS. The CRC will ensure an interdisciplinary doctoral education and give opportunity for interdisciplinary scientific exchange with the possibility to attend and organize workshops, seminars and various conferences on an international level. We enable our researchers to gain the maximum insight from their results by training in modern research data management, we finance research stays abroad and we can offer special child care options for CRC staff.
