Research associate (Postdoc)

In an exciting upcoming DFG funded project, we aim to elucidate how western-style diet influences the development, progression and therapy response of colorectal cancer. We are currently looking for a motivated and dedicated postdoctoral researcher with excellent qualifications to strengthen our team. The position is offered for a period of 2 years. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13).

Tasks:

  • exciting in vivo research using transgenic mice in diet-related colon cancer mouse models
  • cutting-edge techniques such as 3D intestinal organoid cultures, multiplex Immunfluorescence and Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization
  • bioinformatics analysis of next generation single cell RNA- and Whole Exome sequencing data

The position will be filled by a temporary contract that is limited to the period which is necessary to gain further scientificexpertise (such as the preparation for a subsequent qualification period). Within the entrusted tasks the opportunity for independent scientific work to obtain further personal qualification is given. The limitation of the contract complies to § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG.

Profile:

  • MSc-degree or equivalent in biology or related life sciences, as well as a Doctorate in a natural science
  • excellent background in cell and molecular biology
  • profound knowledge in next-generation sequencing data evaluation
  • experience in planning and conducting in vivo experiments is an asset
  • You should be enthusiastic, self-motivated and capable of pursuing research projects independently as well as in collaborations
  • excellent communication skills in spoken and written English
