Research Assistant (Postdoc)

The position is offered until 30th November 2028, and funded by Horizon Europe (Call: Horizon-Miss-2024-Soil-01) in the project “ProPollSoil”. ProPollSoil (Understanding and managing soil health impacts to protect soil-dependent pollinators). The project focuses on soil-dependent pollinators, such as ground-nesting bees, and their relationship to soil conditions. In collaboration with soil scientists, it will examine the extent to which land use and climatic conditions influence the soil-dependent pollinators. Samples will be collected in Germany as well as the European projectpartner countries and will include traditional chemical and physical soil samples, soil fauna, and pollinators. The starting date is 1st November 2025. The position is fulltime with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13).

Tasks:

  • planning and coordination of all fieldwork across all European countries in collaboration with project partners
  • detailed planning of pollinator sampling, including the selection of the methods and the frequency of sampling
  • conducting sampling in Germany with the support of student assistants
  • writing scientific publications
  • presenting results at national and international conferences

This is a project position that is not limited in time according to § 2, 1 WissZeitVG.

Profile:

  • MSc-degree or equivalent and a PhD in animal ecology, nature conservation or similar fields with excellent records preferably with a focus on insects
  • very good writing and communication skills (publication and presentation record)
  • the ability to work independently and self-motivated
  • good computational skills for statistical analysis
  • very good English language skills
