The Department of Chemistry, research group of Prof. Dr. Karl-Michael Weitzel, is currently accepting applications for

Postdoc

position. The position is limited until 31st march 2026. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is fulltime with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 100 %).

Tasks:

  • include scientific services in research and teaching 
  • Advancement of the Charge Attachment Induced Transport (CAIT) technique towards a Double-CAIT experiment
  • Setting-up and running Double-CAIT experiments
  • Analysis and Modelling of concentration depth profiles by means of secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS)

The position will be filled by a temporary contract that is limited to the period which is necessary to gain further scientific expertise (such as the preparation for a subsequent qualification period). Within the entrusted tasks the opportunity for independent scientific work to obtain further personal qualification is given. The limitation of the contract complies to § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG.

Profile:

  • Required is a Ph.D. in either Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
  • Experience in the preparation and guiding of electron and ion beams by means of, e.g., thermionic emission, plasma ionization or laser ionization is desired
  • Experience in handling high vaccuum chambers is desired
  • Profound knowledge in the investigation, the analysis and description of DC-transport processes in alkali ion or mixed alkali ion electron conducting solid electrolytes is highly desirable
  • Experience in handling very small charge carrier currents (pA range) is desirable
  • Knowledge of the analysis of concentration depth profiles by means of secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) is highly desirable
