Full Professorship (W2) in Sociology, specialized in Economic Sociology

Tasks:

The successful applicant is expected to deal with the economic, ecological and societal implications of the Anthropocene. With this focus, the applicant has an innovative profile in economic sociology both in research and in teaching. The professorship is supposed to participate in research alliances and existing collaborative research initiatives in line with the research priorities of the University of Marburg and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy. The professorship is responsible for teaching on all levels, from introductory courses to the supervision of PhD candidates.

Profile:

We are looking for a highly qualified, internationally visible scientist with initial outstanding scientific achievements and an independent scientific profile in the field of economic sociology, documented through publications in relevant journals. The applicant should focus on the transformation of economies in the Anthropocene and address the related crises that affect all societal areas. Preferable are contributions to sociological aspects of gender, questions of property or to science and technology studies. Experiences with science diplomacy are preferable, as well. We expect the ability for interdisciplinary collaborations with diciplines both in the humanities and also in the natural sciences. Required are language skills in German at the level of B2 at the time of applying and at the level of C1 within the first two years after the appointment. Experience with the successful acquisition of third party funding is expected.

The conditions of employment are subject to § 67 and § 68 Hessisches Hochschulgesetz (HessHG). The University of Marburg places great importance on the intensive mentoring of students and doctoral candidates; therefore, a regular presence of the teaching staff is required.
