Research Associate (Postdoc)

The position is initially offered for a period of 2 years, with the option to extend for another year, if no former times of qualification must be considered. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is fulltime with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 100 %).

Prof. Hantschel's group uses interdisciplinary approaches at the interface of protein biochemistry, structural biology, protein engineering, proteomics, and chemical biology to study cancer cell signaling with the goal of finding new approaches for therapeutic intervention. Research focuses on the development of novel intracellular protein-based therapeutics, so-called monobodies, to inhibit key oncoproteins, as well as structure-function analysis of oncogenic signaling networks.

Tasks:

  • independent scientific research in the field of molecular oncology
  • possibility of independent management of research projects
  • support in the supervision of BSc/MSc theses and doctoral dissertations
  • assistance in writing manuscripts and scientific grants
  • active participation in undergraduate teaching (practical courses, seminars) of the study programs of the Department of Medicine

This is a temporary qualification position for the acquisition of further scientific competencies (e.g. preparation for a subsequent qualification phase). Within the scope of the assigned tasks, the opportunity for independent scientific work is offered, which serves the own scientific qualification. The time limit is based on § 2 para. 1 WissZeitVG.

Profile:

  • MSc degree or equivalent in a biological, life science, pharmaceutical or chemical field
  • PhD or MD degree in a biological, life science, pharmaceutical or chemical discipline
  • in-depth knowledge and experience in protein biochemistry, protein engineering, cell biology, biophysics/structural biology or chemical biology is desirable
  • willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team is expected
  • high sense of responsibility and willingness to collaborate with colleagues and scientists
  • good command of written and spoken English
