Research Assistant (Postdoc)

The position is offered for a period of 2 years, if no former times of qualification must be considered. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13).

Tasks:

  • scientific services in research and teaching
  • independent development ofown research projects under supervision with scientific contribution (new directions, side projects)
  • supervision of students
  • synthesis of photosensitive molecules (ideally photoswitches)
  • photochemical and biological characterisation of molecules
  • multidisciplinary collaborative work in an international environment
  • international communication of research via articles, third-party funds and oral presentations

The position will be filled by a temporary contract that is limited to the period, which is necessary to gain further scientific expertise (such as the preparation for a subsequent qualification period). Within the entrusted tasks the opportunity for independent scientific work to obtain further personal qualification is given. The limitation of the contract complies to § 2 Abs. 1 Satz 2 WissZeitVG.

Profile:

  • Completed scientific university degree (diploma, master's degree or comparable) in chemistry (with a strong focus on organic chemistry or chemical biology with synthesis), and a doctorate or proof of a doctorate process that is about to be completed
  • experience in multistep syntheses and photochemical characterisation of photoactive molecules
  • indpendent thinking
  • experience in biological techniques (cloning, cell culture, protein expression, well-plate assays)
  • motivation, passion and the ability to work in a team
  • excellent knowledge of English (written and oral)

The willingness to pursue your own scientific qualification is expected.
