The Center for Conflict Studies, Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio 138 “Dynamics of Security”  is currently accepting applications for a

Postdoc researcher

The starting date is November 1st 2022 and the end date is December 31st 2025. The position is full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13).
 
This third party-funded project investigates dynamics of securitisation and desecuritisation in international statebuilding. The overall goal is a historicisation of security-related practices and discourses of international statebuilding by the United Nations with a specific focus on the emergence of post-colonial forms of international rule in UN statebuilding. The project analyses international administrations of territories, specifically by the UN Trusteeship System and UN administrations, and large-scale peace- and statebuilding missions of the UN.

Tasks:

  • carrying out research on key questions of subproject B05 “Securitisation and desecuritisation of trusteeship administrations in political transition processes”
  • participation in the work of the CRC/Transregio 138 “Dynamics of Securtiy”

It is a project position that is not limited in accordance with § 2 Paragraph 1 WissZeitVG.

Profile:

  • a completed higher education degree (Masters or equivalent) in a social scientific subject
  • a PhD degree in a social science subject and on a topic relevant to the subproject
  • very good knowledge of English
  • competencies in text analysis methods especially for large text bodies are desirable
  • we further expect in-depth knowledge of the UN system and on the state of the art in international statebuilding research
