Doctoral Researcher/PhD

The position is offered for a period of 3 years, if no former times of qualification must be considered. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is part-time (65 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13).

The DKH-funded project "Understanding and Controlling the Tumor Microenvironment in p53-Mutated Lung Cancer" explores the effects of p53 missense mutations on the tumor microenvironment in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), the most prevalent type of lung cancer. You will use knock-in mouse models combined with CRISPR-based somatic lung mutagenesis to generate and analyze autochthonous LUAD. This analysis will involve deep microenvironment profiling utilizing single-cell transcriptomics, immunogenomics, multispectral flow cytometry, and multiplex immunofluorescence imaging with spatial analysis.

Tasks:

  • scientific services in the project described above, in particular carrying out molecular and cell biology work

The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of a doctoral degree. As part of the assigned duties, there will be ample opportunity to conduct the independent scientific research necessary for the completion of a doctorate. The limitation complies to § 2, 1 WissZeitVG.

Profile:

  • MSc-degree or equivalent in Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Biomedicine or a related field
  • proficient knowledge of molecular biology and genetics, with practical experience in molecular and cell biology techniques
  • experience with CRISPR-based gene editing and gene transfer methods is preferred and will be an advantage
  • previous work with laboratory animals, particularly those with a FELASA B Certificate, is beneficial
  • fluency in English, both spoken and written, is essential for success in this international setting

Disposition to own scientific qualification (e.g. a doctorate project in the area of molecular oncology) is expected.
