The Philipps University, founded in 1527, offers multiple award-winning teaching for around 22,000 students and tackles the important issues of our time with excellent research across a broad spectrum of science.
The Center for Synthetic Microbiology (SYNMIKRO), graduate school "Nucleotide Metabolism in Microbes" (GRK 2937, spokesman of the GRK: Professor Dr. Peter Graumann) is currently accepting applications for a
The position will be advertised for a period of 4 years, subject to the approval of funds, for a period of 4 yearswith the option of an extension after successful evaluation. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13).
The Research Training Group Nucleotide Metabolism in Microbes, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), analyzes those chemical building blocks (nucleotides) which nucleic acids such as DNA and RNA are composed of in different microbial species in order to uncover both their valid principles of nucleotide metabolism, species-specific adaptations in nucleotide-related metabolic pathways, and mechanisms for nucleotide modifications.
The qualification position is located in the subproject " Subcellular dynamics of mRNA and of enzymes involved in nucleotide synthesis and degradation " led by Prof. Dr. Peter Graumann. The main focus is on the investigation of the three dimensional organization of bacterial cells, and the regulation of RNA degradation. The position includes the possibility for own funding in the fifth year as next level towards scientific independence.
The position is limited to the period which is adequate to the duration of the qualification period. The qualification goal is a habilitation or an equivalent qualification required for a professorship. Within the scope of the assigned duties it will offer the possibility of independent scientific research for further qualification. The limitation complies to § 2, 1 S 1 WissZeitVG.
