Professorship (W 3) for Sustainable Development and Economic Policy

to be filled as soon as possible. The School of Business and Economics regards sustainability as one of its focus themes and wants to strengthen it regarding research and teaching. The successful candidate will collaborate primarily with the Research Groups Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Sustainability Management. The Research Group Sustainable Development and Economic Policy contributes to the School’s focus theme through analyses of the sustainable development of economies and evaluations of economic policies. At the same time, the Research Group Sustainable Use of Natural Resources concentrates on changing individual and collective behavior, and the Research Group Sustainability Management studies business-related aspects.

Tasks:

The successful candidate will conduct theory-guided quantitative (and possibly qualitative) empirical research in sustainable development, focusing on climate change risks and policies regarding adaptation to climate change. Teaching responsibilities include courses on sustainability, economic policy, and statistics/econometrics in the School's Bachelor and Master programs. Proficiency in German is an advantage.

Profile:

The successful candidate’s compatibility with inter- and transdisciplinary approaches will be demonstrated by interdisciplinary publications and collaborative projects with societal stakeholders. Broad methodological skills are expected, along with a focus on academically rigorous and socially relevant research, including randomized evaluation studies. The professorship will collaborate with university affiliates and contribute to the development of the School and the success of the Marburg Centre for Institutional Economics (MACIE).

The position requires a Ph.D. in economics with a strong record of academic accomplishment as demonstrated by publications in top international academic journals. Additionally, the candidate should have a proven track record in securing external funding and a commitment to effective teaching. Experience in interdisciplinary teaching programs is highly desirable.
